For example, I've met several entrepreneurs who had to leave town to take place in accelerator programs out of town, because they wanted to participate in an accelerator, but there were none here for them. Thibault Mathieu: Morgan and I were both in film school at UCLA. We were initially covering events like sports and arts festivals when we first launched a beta version of the WESAWIT app at UCLA. Examples would include the pictures WESAWIT receives. We were also really happy when we first launched our beta at UCLA.

In some ways it is similar to early stage incubators such as Y Combinator, although FI is even earlier stage, focusing on developing the founders themselves as entrepreneurs as opposed to actual companies.
