The trend of funding anything from the first $25k to funding $50 million at a billion+ valuation is unlikely to last as the skills and style to be effective at all stages are diverse enough to warrant focus. I will argue that LPs who invest in VC funds will also need to adjust a bit as well.

The answer was yes, and we also saw that we could begin to play at web scale, be hosted in the cloud, be scalable in an extensive way. We then actually went to the leader, Amazon, and we're in the web services group. We were even funded back in 2006 by Adobe, to move over to Flex. But, they were an HTML app on a LAMP stack.

The basic conclusion was that it was a bit premature if you were talking about a serious, funded start-up. Mentions - Marc Andreessen's - The three kinds of platforms you meet on the Internet A Level 1 platform's apps run elsewhere, and call into the platform via a web services API to draw on data and services -- this is how Flickr does it.
