Sorrento Valley-based AgileNano, which is developing technology for minimizing military and sports injuries, has raised a Series A funding from the Tech Coast Angels, the TCA said today. Amount of the financing was not disclosed.

Long Beach-based Bikestations , an angel-backed startup developing modules used for storing bicycles at train stations, bus stations, and elsewhere, said today that it has contracted for install of a center, at the Covina Metrolink station. Bikestation is angel backed by the Tech Coast Angels.

It's a story you hear too many times: a venture or angel funded firm just can't figure out its business, runs low on cash, can't get another round of funding, and soon all that's left is a few chairs and servers. In terms of tactics, we went from 20-odd people at the company to just three people, myself and two developers.

Fetch and Schlep just raised a round of funding from the Pasadena Angels and the Tech Coast Angels. We did this all on our own for the first three years, and just recently went to friends, relatives, and the Pasadena Angels, who really got excited, and syndicated us to the Tech Coast Angels.

At a recent accelerator event on the West Side, a friendly young founder told me that he had been coached by his mentor not to talk to Angel groups. As a Pasadena Angel, I wanted to be shocked, but I wasn’t. The Angel funding process can be arduous. It’s no wonder Oscar and Felix don’t get along.
