We spoke about my interest in cloud computing, digital media and mobile. I talked in specifics about a bunch of my investments including Factual , MongoLab , Maker Studios and Gogii (maker of TextPlus ). It’s about 10 minutes long. It’s a fun 10-minute interview that you might enjoy watching. Actually, I never said that.
In San Diego you have Qualcomm so an entire mobile industry has been spawned. Hautelook, Gogii, Magento. Each of these companies exited for more than $500 million and several north of $1 billion. In New York you have access to fashion, media, art and of course, financial services. In Washington DC you have government & defense.
Gogii [the original company name] was an early leader in the free text messaging space and we had tens of millions of downloads of our product. It’s hard to capture a monthly active user base in mobile that spans into several millions and manage that through a transition. He’s with you in good times & bad.
I invested in LA-based Gogii , one of the fastest growing, most exciting mobile social networking companies you’ve never heard of and maker of a product called textPlus. But who exactly is Gogii, what is textPlus and why are they so exciting if I’ve never heard of them? More on that later. Sorry, moms.
