A Google survey from July 2012 calculated that more than half the small businesses in the US are still without a basic website. They do not know what they do not know which makes a meaningful conversation with a design agency very challenging. And with 20% of traffic coming from smart phones your site has to be mobile friendly.

From the annual search statistics from Google and Bing , it''s clearly information about celebrities. The startup--the brainchild of Evan Britton--has been ramping up its efforts recently, having just launched a brand new responsive web design which optimizes the site for mobile phones and tablets, in addition to desktop web browsers.

Just the kind of person I like to meet. :) But I was a bit surprised when he emphasized how hard it had been for them to find a web developer in Los Angeles. My flippant comment was, “If you do a Google search for Los Angeles web developer, you’ll find a LOT of people and firms.” And he’s right there’s a big difference.

Early in the days of devices, it was tougher to get great performance from Web Dev based applications, but as the phones and tablets grow in power, the responsiveness is becoming almost indistinguishable. Lastly, I think the push on Reponsive Web Design is going to really take off this year. Mobile design is a different beast.
