I believe the days of the “job work” mentality are thankfully waning, with more people looking to get satisfaction by making the world a better place, rather than just tolerating brain-numbing work to fund enjoyment elsewhere. Startup incubators and accelerators are popping up everywhere. Women are a growing force as entrepreneurs.

I find that non-startups spend most of their resources linearly enhancing existing products, rather than monitoring change in the marketplace and catching the next wave. Most mature companies have unfortunately replaced it long ago with product management groups to fix problems. Balance the focus on productivity versus creativity.
