I just had an all-too common conversation with the founder of a startup who had spent more than a year working with a softwaredevelopment company who had produced a mess. The mess really comes from a developer who was willing to get started on a product that was not fully thought out. What are your key Startup Metrics ?

If you’re a Web-based startup, for example, show me how many unique visitors you think you can get in the beginning, and what you’re using for an estimated conversion rate (buyers to browsers). Part of those questions are around Startup Metrics. Give me granularity. And it becomes really important to have that granularity really fast.
Once you build it, they will now ask you about the key metrics that they need proven in order to see if you really are a good investment. The real reason to build an MVP is to do early tests of key Startup Metrics for the business. " Once you have the metrics defined, it focuses your effort. To prove/disprove a hypothesis.

Many of the factors are not obvious and include building mystery to drive margin, why boring B2B companies often win but are challenging in other ways, how bootstrapping wins, integrating metrics from the start and many other similar lessons. We recently completed a web-based application that uses a unique algorithm to match professionals with new career opportunities. This isn’t just our opinion - our startup metrics prove it! If you’ve ever used a similar application, (or if you’ve ever used the Internet at all) you’ve probably seen this approach before.
The term a gile development is defined, and the panel agreed unanimously that maintaining this mindset is necessary. The challenge is in getting clear numbers, but not often as cleanly as a basic web analytics report. Web analytics, pretty clear. Instead, focus on what metric outputs, more views, more downloads?
What existing systems will we leverage, what programming languages, softwaredevelopment methodologies, web application frameworks, revision control systems, etc.? What metrics are going to be the key startup metrics and how do we get those metrics without too much cost? How can we address this risk?
