Also of note was Ryan Orrico’s launch of HandJob, a new form of job applicant screening and referral tracking. When using the Handjob app , users must shake the app up and down or side to side and out pops a pre-screened job applicant. All presentations were of extremely high quality and teams did a killer job.

We also talked about the emergence of New York City as the “hot” new area of entrepreneurship, VC and innovation driven by the quantification of the online advertising industry. CEO hinted to WSJ that it may go public in early 2011. Those companies are already going to be crushed by Skype’s new screen sharing capabilities.

As an IBMer, I am familiar with Watson, the supercomputer that beat Ken Jennings on Jeopardy back in 2011. And this small box that we are as the entertainers of the evening, how could you explain that? And look at that [points to screen]. Watson has many services that developers can use to create their own programs.
