About 18 months ago, the entire group began to mention that they were having more difficulty finding good developers. Im part of a CTO group that meets once a month to discuss various topics.
And in most cases they are not ready to hire developers either. Instead, what they should be considering is how to bridge the Startup Founder Developer Gap and exactly what they need in terms of Startup CTO or Developer. The startup founder is definitely not ready to hire a CTO. Great post Gabriel!
I’m seeing and hearing that it’s becoming tough finding good developers again, at least here in Los Angeles. On Friday, at the LA CTO Forum , I heard from a couple of CTOs having trouble finding good developers. My company, TechEmpower , recently added a few top notch developers, but it wasn’t easy to find just the right people.
I've helped organize the Los Angeles CTO Forum for almost 10 years. This is a private group of CTOs who are responsible for software development within their companies. They are generally the senior most person responsible for custom software development, database design, database administration, webdevelopment, etc.
I am hearing from my project management team a bit of distrust in the technical capacity of our webdevelopment team. I think we suffer because of the distance and culture but the project management team takes every late delivery or small bug as evidence that the development team may not be capable.
