3D filmmaker James Cameron of Avatar fame announced Monday that he has launched a new, technology firm based in Burbank focused on creating 3D technology. The company said it will be hiring software engineers and design engineers, as well as others, to help develop the firm's technology.

Burbank-based Walt Disney said this weekend that it has promoted John Pleasants, the former CEO of Playdom , as co-President of its Disney Interactive Media Group , along with James Pitaro, most recently of Yahoo!
