Last year I was on Sand Hill Road in Silicon Valley meeting with one of the most prominent venturecapital firms in the country. The VC partner, somebody I greatly respect said, “Yeah, we like Gil and what they’re doing. We have world-class universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and more. In our regions?
Is it because of the rich engineering talent coming out of Caltech, UCLA, USC, Harvey Mudd, and all the other universities? And if you spend much time in LA, you’ll quickly realize that we’re in a groundswell of space and defense startups. Recently I had the pleasure of speaking with Ian on This Week in Startups.

This is part of my ongoing series Pitching a VC. Quick caveats: having fewer investors (3-5) is better than many investors (10-15) and PLEASE make sure you hire a great lawyer who has experience in doing start-ups to avoid pitfalls that will make VC harder down the line. They might be as hard as raising VC.
