An edtech startup called Entity Academy — which provides women with training, in areas like data science and software development; mentoring; and ultimately job coaching — has raised $100 million on the heels of strong growth of its business, and an ambition to improve that ratio.

We have significant VC commitments (listed below) – every entering company will get $50,000 in funding, mentorship from top VCs and successful entrepreneurs plus free office space. Of these 19 have received funding (10 have received significant amounts of VC funding) and 5 have been acquired (2 for more than $30 million).

Yet if you already have some early adopters, that's a good indication that real marketing and education will likely bring your product or service mass acceptance. Acquiring business skills is not rocket science; they can be learned on the job, as well as supplemented by coaching from an experienced team and advisors.

For starters we’re an LA-based venture fund who invests nationally (and sometimes internationally, but less so). Her network from her educational institutions alone has friends in all of the top tech, media & banking institutions. She is a coach and mentor to team members. And the contractions always come back.

I know of at least 2 deals from that cohort that are either funded ( Backupify ) or nearly funded (can’t really disclose, I’m not sure if it’s yet closed and/or announced. Jason & Tyler brought forward 5 high quality companies and super high quality ones rose to the top and quickly got funded.
