Pasadena-based solar thermal technology developer eSolar has unveiled a Lancaster solar power plant this morning, saying that the firm's 24,000 mirror, 5-megawatt plant will provide electricity for more than 4,000 homes in the Antelope Valley. Anna Barber: I think one of the key differences, is LA is so spread out. There are so many different pockets of interesting companies, and different vertical that are strong in LA. Of course, there's a lot of concentration in LA along Siliocon Beach, but there are great things in Pasadena, Claremont, Downtown, and the Valley.

Sixteen months later, we're the biggest tech event in Southern California which is held on a regular basis. First, we're geographically spread out, with silos far away--in Pasadena, the Valley, Hollywood, etc. I offered to bring in pizza and stay late one night to help, and was expecting 10-12 people. It turned out to be 40.
