Symwave said that Manian joins Dell CTO Kevin Kettler, Best Buy's Brian Chubboy, and Intel VP Gil Frostig on its advisory group. Manian was at Broadcom until December, when he was let go after questions were raised about his educational background. Manian was at Broadcom for 13 years, and also served at Silicon Systems.

As a long-time business advisor and angel investor, I’m a believer that “two heads are better than one” in building a new business. The reason is that good attributes apply equally well to “external” partners, as they do to internal partners, like a co-founder or CTO. Ethics and the view of personal boundaries should be explored fully.

There's a big disconnect between their education and employment. Since then, I have worked extensively with mentoring youth, and helping them figure out what's possible in terms of careers. We have live connections to every federally registered apprenticeships, every accredited university and educational institution by zip code.

The most attractive thing about it was the educational value. So, we were pretty excited to educate ourselves at TechStars. The program itself is incredibly daunting initially, but it was really valuable for us, especially as an educational experience. We have some great mentors now.
