Also, make sure you know several partners at the VC firms who have invested in you because in tough times it helps to have very broad support. But if you work your entrepreneur network, talk with lawyers who do a ton of startup deals, ask existing investors, etc. The best VCs follow up but then so, too, to the best entrepreneurs.
