It’s good advice; the theory being that entrepreneurs can discover the flaws in their business models sooner, make course corrections and move in a more favorable direction. In my case as a young software entrepreneur, I had a different approach: Fail Locally, one customer at a time. I became an entrepreneur by default.

If these factors impact earnings the stock market may be headed South – If unemployment rises housing prices won’t. Bad stock markets mean less IPO’s and lower prices for M&A.

People who believe the former believe that you should see the market demand before too many people know you’re “in market.” In any event this is a “screening meeting” or as I’ve called on my graphics an “introduction” to the firm. Remember, I was an entrepreneur for 10 years before a VC). I think there’s some truth in this.

The founders felt that having a legitimate site for content would discourage Silicon Valley VC’s from funding entrepreneurs to create the next big TV killer. The goal of any cartel is to control production, distribution & marketing of a set of goods with the goal of maintaining high prices. Older shows might allow a single season.
