The questions that a VC mulls before writing a check are precisely the questions you should be asking yourself. But this isn’t likely to be a VC-backable business (which to be clear is totally ok). Marketing with long payback is precisely what requires venture capital. It is Blockbuster video in the dawn of Netflix.

Public Storage is the Blockbuster Video of their industry and we set out to build Netflix. I’m a stickler for focus, being efficient with capital and building out operational excellence, so our strategy initially was very constrained. Little old us. Sound familiar? It’s no wonder incumbents don’t want us to exist.
