San Diego-based Qualcomm and Sun Microsystems announced today that the two are in an effort to port the popular Java programming language to Qualcomm's Snapdragon ARM processor. Demand Media said that Pluck now includes new tools for software developers, to provide native experiences and creation of community features on mobile phones, including support for Objective-C on the Apple iOS, as well as Java for Google Android applications. As with previous rounds, the developer community has contributed several additional frameworks for Round 4, bringing the total to 57! This round adds Bottle (Python), Dancer (Perl), Kelp (Perl), MicroMVC (PHP), Mojolicious (Perl), Phalcon (PHP), RingoJS (JavaScript), Spark (Java), and Wai (Haskell).

According to MySpace, the upgrade includes new access to the activity stream of MySpace users, integration of OAuth and OpenID for authentication of users, and new developer resources to help developers create and manage applications.
