Los Angeles-based I.am+ , the tech startup started by pop star will.i.am , said on Monday that it has raised $117M in a venture funding round, and has launched itself into the artificial intelligence tools market for the enterprise. According to I.am+, the round includes Salesforce Ventures, along with other. I.am+ had previously focused on developing headphones and other consumer electronics devices.

Irvine-based Ingram Micro said on Tuesday afternoon that it has acquired The Phoenix Group , a distributor of point-of-sale (POS) technology of the US and Canadian market. Financial details of the acquisition were not announced. Ingram Micro said the buy would help strengthen its presence in the payments ecosystem. The Phoenix Group offers up point-of-sale technology and repair services for such companies as VeriFone, Ingenico, MagTek, RDM, PAX and TechTrex.
