The service was created by experience serial entrepreneurs Mark Sylvester and KymberleeWeil, who some might know from creating service introNetworks. We're entrepreneurs, and we like to build our business, and wish we were known a little more. But, they were an HTML app on a LAMP stack. They are big, private communities.

Each time I mentor an entrepreneur, I learn new things about their technology, customers, and business domain. In the words of an ancient Buddhist proverb, “If you light a lamp for someone, it will also brighten your own path.” A mentor/mentee relationship must be a win-win and learning experience for both.

I was in it for the love of working with entrepreneurs on business problems and marveling at technology they had built. We had lamp shades on our heads, tequila in our glasses, loud music and perhaps too much sand, and burning men, and art exhibits and tres commas. In a market doing this it becomes very hard to do otherwise.

With open source software (LAMP stack) and cloud computing infrastructure it just wasn’t that expensive to get your company going and founders just wanted to raise less money. I told entrepreneurs that it was a bit of a Faustian bargain. But they do small, seed like investments when they like the entrepreneurs.
