Examples of bots include those used by the search engines. this is not the case, you wont be able to do anything mentioned here without bringing your site down. You need to be able to check your sites raw web logs. Once youve located the entries that belong to the bot, look for the IP address and the user agent string.

You might, for example, hold events in the rough key/value form: user_id, event_name, value, datetime.
