As you all know TechZulu is a huge supporter of Startup Weekend, and when we had the chance to be part of the very first Orange County (my home town) Startup Weekend we jumped on board. That was primarily driven by the economy; when the economy is down, investments are down, and it is increasingly difficult to d a startup. Historically, OCTANe has been loosely married to UC Irvine, where OCTANe first started five or six years ago. If you were to tell investors about Orange County's strengths, what would you say?

OCTANe , the Orange County-based organization helping to bolster the high tech industry and entrepreneurs, reported this morning that in the first half of 2012, companies participating in its startup accelerator have raised a total of $26.8M in funding.
