Just the kind of person I like to meet. :) But I was a bit surprised when he emphasized how hard it had been for them to find a web developer in Los Angeles. My flippant comment was, “If you do a Google search for Los Angeles web developer, you’ll find a LOT of people and firms.” And he’s right there’s a big difference.

What I want to answer with this post (long though it may be) is: Why did Web 2.0 Brands didn’t advertise their web pages they advertised “AOL Keywords.&# If you were a newly minted, venture-backed consumer Internet company you had to have a deal with AOL to reach your customers. The answer was yes, and we also saw that we could begin to play at web scale, be hosted in the cloud, be scalable in an extensive way. We then actually went to the leader, Amazon, and we're in the web services group. But, they were an HTML app on a LAMP stack. We said, in addition to being B2B, can we also do B2C?
