The main thrust of the post is that with YouTube taking a 45% of revenue and talent taking 70% of the remaining revenue, YouTube Networks didn’t have sustainable businesses unless they invested heavily in technology as a tool to increase margin and provide defensibility. That is the definition of Disruptive Technology.

But I also accept and appreciate the ads in Hulu because I know that I’m watching shows for free. I know that advertising is important to inform consumers of offers – the same reason many tech companies use SEM. So only the technology companies can make money from ad links and not the creators of content?

What is it about the content delivery network market which has enabled Santa Monica-based EdgeCast to go from startup to over $100M in revenues in only a few, short years? We have 35 POPs all over the world, in every major market, and we have more than 6,000 customers today. We caught on with the right product, at the right time.

Netflix, Hulu, and even YouTube and other content streaming sites have all but obliterated the independent DVD rental business of yesterday. They could provide more detailed information about the content producers or the shows. appears to be headed in the right direction. It’s got a fresh clean look.
