StartEngine said the new office is a split-level loft, with access to such locations as the USC Viterbi School of Engineering and a few metro stops from Pasadena. StartEngine announced the new location in an invitation to an opening event January 15th for its mentors and companies.

Anna Barber: Before this, I hadn't been involved with Techstars as a mentor, however, I'd been an entrepreneur and mentored at other accelerators. Of course, there's a lot of concentration in LA along Siliocon Beach, but there are great things in Pasadena, Claremont, Downtown, and the Valley.

At a recent accelerator event on the West Side, a friendly young founder told me that he had been coached by his mentor not to talk to Angel groups. As a Pasadena Angel, I wanted to be shocked, but I wasn’t. I’ve been spending some time at LaunchPad and Amplfy, and some of the best startups in LA are at those incubators.

The idea, is to make it accessible as a multi-disciplinary part of Tel Aviv University, so that young people, alumni, and students with ideas for a company can join the fund, not only to be funded with seed money, but also so they can be accelerated and potentially incubated before they go out.
