The “private sale” market phenomenon was started in France by Vente-Privee (literally means “private sale”) and was replicated in Germany by BrandsforFriends. We tend to be better at things like team building, negotiations, sales, and fundraising – which are arguably the most important skills entrepreneurs should posses. In the bay area there are dozens of firms that are actively making investments. There simply are NOT enough venture capital firms in the Southern California.

We met first through Tyler Crowley at Mahalo, and I invited Jason to speak at MOTM. We had a list of people who we thought not only had money to invest, but who could give us the smartest money and advice. Kurt Daradics: We're also doing a big outreach to build up our outside sales staff. He is a friend of mine.

When I described to people why I initially invested my calls went something like this, “He’s taken kicks to the face for nearly 2 years and is still standing. Oh, and of course I shoot all of my videos at the ThisWeekIn studios which are located in the Mahalo offices. Through this process he raised $2 million.
