2014 Pasadena Angels Performance. • I have never seen such energy at the Pasadena Angels in my decade+ as a member. Angels have been attending many outside events, both in Greater Pasadena and further afield in Silicon Beach. Our partnership with Andy Wilson and the Innovate Pasadena team has been enormously helpful, too. IP events have brought great focus to the area, and we’ve been glad to both attend and financially support their events.

Guidance Software Rolls Out Updated Software

Pasadena-based computer forensics software maker Guidance Software said this morning that it has launched an updated version of its EnCase Endpoint Investigator software. Guidance said the features are aimed at helping to better address HR issues, compliance violations, regulatory inquiries, IP theft, and more. The company said the new software features "off-network" data collection, aimed at helping collect data on mobile devices and endpoints.

OnGreen Launches Patent Marketplace

Pasadena-based OnGreen , the online marketplace for green and clean technology businesses, said today that it has launched a new, patent marketplace focused on allowing users to license or sell their intellectual property (IP). OnGreen said the patent exchange will focus on promoting the sale and licensing of green and clean technology patents and other form of IP.

XCast Labs Claims Growth

Los Angeles-based XCast Labs , a provider of voice-over-IP services, is reporting today that it had 48 percent revenue growth in 2009, and now has more than 100,000 users. XCast Labs has previously raised funding from Siemer and Associates, Frontera Capital and the Pasadena Angels.

FastSoft develops an appliance which optimizes the TCP/IP protocol to improve performance of file transfers.

FastSoft Names New Marketing VP

Pasadena-based FastSoft , the developer of content acceleration software and appliances, said today that it has named Jerry Hall as Vice President of Marketing at the firm. The firm's products use an optimized TCP/IP algorithm to accelerate software downloads and access to web sites. Hall was most recently a consultant at Forge Strategic Marketing, and also has served at AirHop Communications, ProxiNet, NetBoost, and LanTronix.

FastSoft develops appliances which optimize the TCP/IP protocol, increasing speed of access to files across the Internet.

Tuculescu said it is providing web conferencing services--such as that you'd find from GoToMeeting, WEbEx, or DimDim--using an ad-supported model, but still supporting advanced features like screen sharing, voice over IP audio, and up to 150 people on a conference at a time.

Pasadena-based FastSoft , a developer of Internet acceleration appliances based on research out of Caltech, has raised $950K in a debt funding, according to a regulatory filing by the firm. The company's technology is based on research into optimizing the TCP/IP protocol. According to the filing, the round came from eight investors and has a target of $1.34M. No details on the funding have been announced by the firm.

Vederi Sues Google Over Google Street View

A Pasadena-based company, founded by Caltech Ph.D's, s, is suing Google for patent infringement, based on its Google Street View feature, according to IP law firm Christie, Parker & Hale LLP. The law firm said that Vederi demonstrated its StreetBrowser system on the City of Pasadena's website in the early 2000's, and used a camera mounted on top of Di Bernardo's car combined with GPS readings to create a panorama of streets that could be visually navigated by users.

Pasadena-based FastSoft , the Caltech spinout which develops web acceleration software, said today that it has launched a testing network for its clients. FastSoft sells an appliance and software which optimizes the TCP/IP protocol, drastically improving the speed of Internet transfers. According to FastSoft, the network includes 30 nodes "around the globe" which can be used to test performance enhancements from using the firm's Dynamic Site Acceleration (DSA) product and software.

According to the firm, the upgraded devices accelerate small web objects, and also include performance reporting and analysis.

Edward Synder as the firm's CEO. Snyder has been involved in seed funding and founding such companies as Netboost (acquired by Intel), Jibe Networks, and Proxinet (acquired by Puma Technologies).
