It was standing room only at StartEngine 's Demo Day Wednesday afternoon, held at SantaMonica's Cross Campus , as the startup accelerator launched eight of its latest startups into the world, after a 90 day process of mentoring, honing their business model, and heads down development.
The biggest news for Digital LA this year has been creating and spearheading Silicon Beach Fest, LA's first startup entertainment community festival in SantaMonica and Venice in June, 2012. We'll head back to the beach on the first week of summer for a week-long Silicon Beach Fest in SantaMonica June 2013.
Launchpad LA offers up a $100,000 investment, free office space in SantaMonica, mentoring and access to resources, and much more to companies. According to the accelerator, applications for the next class are due August 11th.

Launchpad LA , the startup accelerator based in SantaMonica, is bolstering its team today, saying it has added Jamie Kantrowitz as an additional partner at the accelerator. LaunchpadLA is managed by Sam Teller, and has incubated and mentored dozens of local startups.
SantaMonica-based startup accelerator LaunchpadLA has just opened up its spring 2013 class applications, and bumped the amount it invests in startups. The accelerator--run by Sam Teller--is one of a crop of startup accelerators which have been the driving force behind the Silicon Beach startup community over the last year.

SantaMonica-based Engrade announced this morning that it has raised $5M in a Series B funding round, for the company''s district-level education platform. The funding was led by Javelin Venture Partners, and also included Rethink Education, Samsung Venture Investment Corporation, Kapor Capital, Expansion Capital and Ed-Mentor.

We started out with our first event at South Bar (in SantaMonica) with about 30 people in attendance.
