That company had done a number of very large products for clients like Yahoo and CBS. Every time they did a distributed, web-based project, they realized they were reinventing the wheel. That system was launched as its own, separate company in late 2011. FatCloud was originally born out of solving their own problems.

Yelp, the company that connects consumers with great local businesses, has acquired SeatMe, a web and iPad-app based restaurant and nightlife reservation service. million in cash for SeatMe and up to approximately 263,000 shares of its Class A common stock, for a total purchase price of approximately $12.7 million by July 24th.

This is class four for Launchpad LA. Divshot, a tool for web designers and developers, won a national pitch competition and one of it’s founders Michael Bleigh created a popular open source library now included in Ruby on Rails. The product integrates with Salesforce, Twitter, Zendesk and many other popular SaaS products.

Greg was the first person to share with me the insights of mobile conversion and why with a simpler product selection and conversion funnel they would get higher conversion on mobile than on the web. In 2011 the company was sold to Nordstrom for $270 million in a deal that has been widely seen as a success for both buyer and seller.
