New entrepreneurs who want to survive, and optimize the growth of their startups, need to think globally, and act locally, from day one. McKinsey estimates, for example, that the upper middle class in China will grow from 14 percent in 2012 to 54 percent by 2022. Anticipate greater growth outside of North America.

What makes the Coachella Valley an ideal place to start a company? They do offer nursing and are about to start a hospitality program.

Based on my experience as a mentor and an entrepreneur, if you fail on your first startup, you are about average. Every young entrepreneur knows implicitly that startup success is a long hard road. Statistics show that the failure rate for new startups within the first 5 years is as high as 50 percent.

Asher Delug: We have had amazing growth coming from our smart wall product, our inter-app interstitial ad product, which patent pending. That all came from parlaying the returns from my previous startup.
