Business and customer satisfaction data measurements are required, in addition to subjective assessments of team progress, tradeoffs, and investment decisions.

Marketing is free or cheap because of social media. During the recession of 2001 – 2003 we also sold a substantial number of licenses of GoToAssist , our enterprise-based customer support solution, by demonstrating to our customers a clear return on their investment. People are free or cheap because of the recession.

Timing your startup - Chris Dixon , November 7, 2010 I never had the opportunity to invest in YouTube but I have to admit that if I did I probably would have passed (which of course would have been a huge mistake). It is also true that there are good deals and good entrepreneurs that can't find anyone to invest in them. Keep going.
