I recently had the pleasure of spending an hour with Jon Steinberg, president of Buzzfeed , a company who focuses on helping media companies make their content go viral. That’s why people turn up to Buzzfeed. If you want something to be shared virally on the web it has to be short.&#. Good comment community = viral blog.
Ze Frank Games , the Los Angeles startup led by web video's Ze Frank , has been acquired by BuzzFeed , a social news publisher, the firm said Friday. According to BuzzFeed, Ze Frank has joined the company to build a team of video producers in Los Angeles, setting up a studio to create content native to the social web.
They first started in 1994 and are therefore almost as old as the Web itself. And as Jon Steinberg of Buzzfeed points out, the CTRs for social media banner ads are just 0.08%. I’m sure it probably resonants with how most of you read the web. I guess from there we had nowhere to go but down. The eyes are in the image.

The New York Times now includes a Bookshop link alongside an Amazon one, while BuzzFeed News, Vox, and New York Magazine are all in, and Hearst, Meredith, and Condé Nast will likely start using Bookshop next month. Top Publications: BuzzFeed News, Vox, New York Magazine. Bookshop’s goal isn’t to beat Amazon.
Facebook started with the biggest publishers in the game: BuzzFeed , Huffington Post , New York Times , Washington Post. BuzzFeed has seen their Instant Articles engage more people than any of their standard link posts and Gawker ’s founder tweeted that instant articles boosted daily uniques to their website.
It will be a follow on from my “App is Crap” or “Web Second, Mobile First” blog posts but in short, video, updated, digestible formats. It has Vice, Tastemade, Vox, ESPN, Comedy Central, BuzzFeed and more. When you’re watching a story it will be either text or video.
