San Diego-based cloud storage firm Nirvanix is shutting down, and has given its customers only two weeks to move their data elsewhere, in a stunning flameout for the venture backed startup. The company seemed to be on the upswing, with a long list of high profile customers; the company had even hired Zynga''s CIO earlier this year.

San Diego-based IntraStage , a developer of quality management software for companies who design and manufacture electronic products, including statistical process control (SPC) and other testing and data analytics tools, has raised a round of angel funding. IntraStage's customers include Motorola, Panasonic and Northrop Grumman.

Perspectium recently raised a funding round from TVC Capital. Coming out of ServiceNow around 2013, I realized that a lot of problems that we had been discussing and dealing with with customers adopting applications like ServiceNow into the enterprise, was establishing connections of that data and processes with systems in the enterprise.

What you really need is a VP of Marketing and Customer Development, who can help with lead generation and honing the message, rather than an executive to manage a sales team and existing customers.

The company announced a funding round from Canaan Partners, Storm Ventures, and AME Cloud a couple of weeks ago. We are also pushing out updates all the time to our customers. CIOs are wondering if they should jump in, wait for production, or wait for things to mature. What is pushing those CIOs to consider private clouds?

So, how do you help ease enterprise customers into the cloud--or at least, help them use cloud technology to help them with their business goals? Most of the CIOs we are talking to are at large banks and healthcare providers. It''s all custom, technology agnostic, and very flexible. We view them as complimentary.
