We began doing singles events, matchmaking, and date coaching. A few months later we did a party on The London’s rooftop (in West Hollywood) for over 500 people. , Val and I started this single’s website/blog just for fun and on the side. Soon after launching it started really taking off. So it grew really fast. Not at all.

The following week, I joined AT&T Hackathon at iO/LA in Hollywood and again pitched the idea. There are countless of great individuals willing to help, coach, mentor and guide new companies and new entrepreneurs that vastly outnumber the ones who seek out to do damage. Luckily, I joined another team that eventually won 1 st Place.

What I loved about the founding team from day 1 was that the founders were all people who tried to break into Hollywood and found the system closed. I wish more startups would get personal coaches so they could let out their angst to neutral people – not staff, not investors. Take Maker Studios. Nor is general mental well being.

These were sports that you taught yourself by watching others, and just pushed yourself to progress for fun, with no coach or parent influencing you. I love that there are no coaches, and kids learn how to learn by teaching themselves. This was an inspiration to me. I like its anti-establishment bent, and its DIY nature.
