An uncontrolled, raging fire in Ventura County--which started in Santa Paula last night around 6:45pm, and rapidly spread to more than 25,000 acres early on Tuesday morning--is directly impacting the high tech corridor in Ventura County. Residents were being directed to Readyventuracounty.org for updates and evacuation notices.

Pasadena-based Idealab , the startup incubator run by Bill Gross, has made another external investment in a company, funding London-based Top10. The investment looks to be the farthest venture, geographically, for Idealab, which recently booted up new efforts to invest in firms not directly incubated in the company's offices.

New companies are being created at stunning speed by today’s founders. As you may have gathered from my blog, I’ve spent the last couple of months visiting with companies and incubators. My key takeaway–companies are being created faster and more cheaply than I would have believed possible.
