I’ve been having discussions with several people recently about the role of the CTO (Chief Technology Officer) in very early stage companies. In December 2007, I described how I commonly take on an Acting CTO Role in a Start-up. That’s why Roger Smith puts the focus of the CTO on programming for the earliest stage.

Los Angeles-based Laudville , a startup developing an online platform to help users share entertainment like movies, books, TV, and music with friends, has added Gene Chuang to its board of advisors, according to the firm. Chuang is currently Chief Technology Officer at Oversee.net,and also has served at such companies as Yahoo!

And the fact that we’ve all worked for a decade with Dana Kibler who is our long-time CFO and now helping run Investment Operations & Platform Services we have a truly senior & killer internal team. Mafias matter a lot to me, as well.

I acted as the occasional mentor, advisor and coach to Ethan. Ethan recruited a great team of people to help build this proposition including Lisa Robinson running marketing and Rahul Thathoo as CTO who have been working tirelessly for the past year. The company was called Red Beacon. It’s more convenient for both sides.

SocialEngine is a white-label, community platform. We have some great mentors now. Thanks to TechStars, we've got an awesome mentor who's co-habitating with us now, and we're learning something daily from him. It's actually uncommon to have a female CTO.
