This is a private group of CTOs who are responsible for softwaredevelopment within their companies. They are generally the senior most person responsible for custom softwaredevelopment, database design, database administration, web development, etc. Yes, there are some events around particular technologies.
I just had an all-too common conversation with the founder of a startup who had spent more than a year working with a softwaredevelopment company who had produced a mess. The mess really comes from a developer who was willing to get started on a product that was not fully thought out. Some founders are taken aback.
SouthernCalifornia is the center of the entertainment industry, which not only includes the world of Hollywood, movies and film, and television, but is also the home of the music industry. We've compiled a list of five of the startups that are revolutionizing some part of music, based here in SouthernCalifornia.
They didn't feel they had visibility into timelines and costs for development of their software. In three of the cases, the founder was finding that the software teams (1 in-house, 2 outsourced) were delivering relatively well in the short-run. They couldn't plan their business. I am hearing from my project management team a bit of distrust in the technical capacity of our web development team. I think we suffer because of the distance and culture but the project management team takes every late delivery or small bug as evidence that the development team may not be capable. No communication between developers.
