Rumored to be prepping for an IPO, just inked a deal to launch a new beauty and fashion site with Tyra Banks. Less known--a healthy domain name registration business. which he sold to AOL.

The “private sale” market phenomenon was started in France by Vente-Privee (literally means “private sale”) and was replicated in Germany by BrandsforFriends. When I was listening, I made a point to try to do that, but when I did, I found I had to go to twenty sites to find the information I needed--whether that was to write a letter, send an email, or whatever. We currently have data on 3900 counties, 1900 cities, including emails, web forms, web sites, telephones, faxes, you name it.

They attract over 70 million people a month (just in the US), and by most accounts are still one of the 10 most popular sites in the world. MySpace should not require a login to get into the site, and I DON’T want to see my profile when I do log in. This could also be done by leveraging a partnership (or buyout) of a site like Mahalo.

He was raising money initially in the worst market in a decade (we met in 2008), he’s in his mid-40′s, is doing a mom’s site (he has no kids) and he has a JewFro.
