When my friend’s small business was struggling a while back, I suggested he add some socialmedia marketing initiatives, and his answer was that he was “too busy.” Develop a marketing strategy specific to this media. For me, these are folks who are actively involved in wide variety of technology-enabled businesses. Having produced a variety of events over the years and having been on the boards of both the Technology Council and AITP, I can say that its really hard to attract a critical mass of interesting people. You know what I mean.
The goal is to create a place where it's relatively easy to find current content and highly relevant content surrounding Los Angeles Technology. Together these social signals indicate content that is likely of higher quality (or at least of higher interest). This technology allows us to see what is hot.
Unfortunately, in my role as business advisor , I don’t see the same response to more common weak signals , like the move to phone texting instead of voice, or politics invading socialmedia. New technologies drive the need for support and attachments, which could be your opportunity or loss.
