I have used Guy’s previous book, The Art Of The Start (Art ), in my UC Santa Barbara New Venture Creation class for the past five years. It has also influenced my thoughts, as evidenced by the six infoChachkie blog entries which reference Art. For instance, Guy refers to an entrepreneur’s venture as their “cause.”

Brad is in the midst of writing a series of startup-oriented books. When writing Startup Life , Brad noted that he and Amy''s primary goal was to avoid a YARB (Yet Another Relationship Book). And on the other end of that spectrum, we didn''t want it to be a ''YARB,'' which we refer to as ''Yet Another Relationship Book.''

Those references drive trillions of dollars of commerce. We're really latching onto the growing trend of building products that detect product references in social messaging. We automatically add tracking and point those product references to e-commerce merchants. We were most excited about Santa Barbara and San Diego.

I just got off the phone with someone who wanted my help getting networked into the Santa Barbara business community. Before contacting me, the consultant should have explored how well the referring party knew me. If that were the case, I would not be writing this entry, as I realize young people are learning “on the job.”
