Our guest this week on #TWiVC was Dana Settle , partner at Greycroft Partners , a venture capital firm with offices in New York and Los Angeles. Greycroft is an early-stage VC. Closing a VC fund in 2009/10 is a major achievement in and of itself. Gilt Group is currently the largest private sale web site in US.

Craig has recruited the co-creater of Zynga's Farmville game, Sizhao Yang, as well as George Ishii, who was co-founder of Geni.com and Yammer, as co-founders. BetterWorks looks to be scaling up dramatically; the firm currently has eight open positions listed on its web site for everything from engineers to marketing director.

By now you probably know that David Sacks , co-founder of PayPal and founder of both Geni & Yammer made some observations on Facebook that Silicon Valley “as we know it” was coming to an end. We once thought nobody could unseat Google since all inbound traffic to the web came from them. Laughable now. Of course not.

RedBeacon was the 3rd winner (year 1: Yammer, year 2: Mint.com) – not bad company. And I certainly didn’t want him having to trapse up-and-down Sand Hill Road informing every VC of his next idea. The company was called Red Beacon. I acted as the occasional mentor, advisor and coach to Ethan. Nice sweep!

I don’t think most VC’s do. But in most situations a VC will want to be able to judge how you perform over time. It’s what prompted my post on how to build relationships with VCs. Geni.com beget Yammer. I’m sure that happens. I could go on and on. Great entrepreneurs pivot.
