The most common proposals I hear are for yet another social networking site ( over 200 active ), or another dating site (over 2500 in the US alone). Business risks are not just development risks. Net result and reward. Based on ROI, incentives should be developed for all participants. Value creation.

Its also been interesting to see the interaction of tools involved - Social Networking, Blogging and a Discussion Group. The level of resumes we get through our LinkedIn networks is top notch. Weve also found that other social networks such as FaceBook and MySpace to have almost no results when it comes to recruitment.

In between practicing, I actually started and ran my own social network, TripUp, which was later acquired by Sidestep, which is now Kayak. At TripUp, we had lots of user generated reviews and hotels, and we were the first to add user general video to a travel community site. That's really our business plan.
