The answer is still the same, but I have learned over the years that there is an etiquette to this process, just like there is for social networking. If you can meet the SEC “accredited investor” criteria ($1M net worth or $200K annual income), this is a great way to be seen by potential investors as peers before you need money.

They've acquired CAPTCHA security tools originally developed by Vidoop, and looking to market that technology to e-commerce web sites, social networking sites, and others looking to reduce spam and fraud.

Based on a survey just last year by Robert Half Technology , over half of today’s companies block social networks completely, while another 19 percent only permit it "for business purposes." Social networks have become a great vector for Trojans like Zeus and URLZone.

In between practicing, I actually started and ran my own social network, TripUp, which was later acquired by Sidestep, which is now Kayak. At TripUp, we had lots of user generated reviews and hotels, and we were the first to add user general video to a travel community site. That's really our business plan.

Its also been interesting to see the interaction of tools involved - Social Networking, Blogging and a Discussion Group. The level of resumes we get through our LinkedIn networks is top notch.
