For the more questionable ones, ones with less sustainable differentiation, this time it''s a little tougher than a couple of years ago, and certainly much more so than 2006 and 2007. I think the incubators have a lot to do with it. an incubator in Singapore, and we do a dozen or so investments a year.

A few days ago, Wallaby ([link] the latest startup out of Los Angeles technology incubator MuckerLab unveiled itself, to solve just that problem. I was there for three years, from 2006 to 2009, in product management and working with retailers launching programs. We spoke with founder Matthew Goldman about the startup. What is Wallaby?

Since 2006, I have been spending the last six years working on different models on how to make this work. The startup incubator actually found us. Back in 2006/07 when I sold my company and then worked at Salesforce.com there were very few options in SF for technology folk to build their careers at big, growing companies. So we’ve seen an explosion in the number of startup companies and subsequently a huge burst in the number of incubators. Juniper and countless others.
