As more consumers were skipping commercials the idea of authentically integrating brands into media seemed obvious to me and ended up informing a lot of my investments in 2009 and 2010. The Tech Coast Angels is stressing its mixer program, seed investment efforts, and a new website, as it kicks off a 2010 program, according to the angel investing group. The group also said it is focusing on its SeedTrack program, which is specifically focused on seed stage funding and extensive mentoring.

Maseeh also said the prize will come associated with a new course at the USC Viterbi school, which will help engineers learn about business plans and creating viable businesses from their ideas. The Maseeh Entrepreneurship Prize Competition (MEPC) is expected to have its first competition in the spring.

Running that effort is Kevin Hell , the founder of DivX, who we caught up with to learn more about EvoNexus and how the group is trying to help grow technology startups in San Dieog. They've provided a completely free facility, furniture, Internet access, mentoring, sponsorship--all of those things are provided for free.

Jonathan Simkin: What makes us unique from other sites, is we're here to help students save time, in addition to money, when they buy books.
