We've also invented and patented a new technology called "MasterKey" that allows people to play our games natively on all relevant social and mobile platforms. At io/LA we launched a new 8000 sq/ft co-work and incubator space in Hollywood. Aside from the theoretical stuff, 2012 has been a year of disruption in many areas of technology.

The company said it saw a 47 percent, year-over-year increase in its ticket sales, plus a 29 percent year-over-year increase in monthly visitors, totaling 34 million in May of 2012. Fandango also said it had about 28 percent of its total tickets sold via mobile in May, which appears to be one of the growth areas for the company.

Yes the real Oscars were also on this past Sunday but if you’re in LA or Hollywood, you wouldn’t be tuning into anything but Startup Weekend LA). 2nd place went to MarkedUp that helps mobile developers collect and organize visual feedback from their beta testers and users ( markedup.mobi ). Silicon Beach Fest Hollywood 2012 included 17 panels ranging from ‘Public Relations for Start Ups’ to ‘How to Find and Hire a Developer’. The experience included after conference events at LA elite places like a Hollywood Mansion overlooking the city to the uber exclusive Roosevelt Hotel.

The industry finally has one of their own at the helm of the largest YouTube network. My estimate is that the top 5 YouTube networks will do > $200 million net revenue in 2013 (after Google’s share). Ynon & I first discussed Maker in early 2012. This has been a very welcome addition. Distribution costs have, too.
