It pays to invest more in building remote relationships with these site owners, or spending quality time with podcasters and popular blog influencers. Highlight your personal leadership values and experience.

Every reported problem likely means that many similar ones went unreported. You can remove items from your article or blog, but people do notice, and may escalate their concerns on another forum. Every customer or outside concern should be taken seriously as an opportunity to improve. Resist cancelling existing social media accounts.

Tim encouraged us to set up a blog and start talking openly about what we were doing as a company and inviting comments. But I had been reading Munjal Shah’s blog about his experiences at Riya (later renamed Like.com) and this openess had an appeal to me. This was 2006 and we were now working on our second company.

Just over a year later, Jurvetson led the Series A round of venture funding for Nervana Systems.

You get the personal satisfaction of making something out of almost nothing. Fancy websites are expensive, but blogs and Facebook pages are free.

They seemed as surprised by their popularity as the reporters who covered Beatlemania. Although they enjoy a sense of satisfaction, if they had known what they were up against at the outset, it is likely that they never would never have made the ‘Base Jump’ required to launch their adVenture.
