Great question and I believe that just like finding a Technical Advisor for your startup is critical, finding a good mentor is critical. Most of us are not Google.

Having read his latest op-ed on email I know why I erred towards the side of of not loving his book as much as some did. Apparently he’s an “organizational psychologist professor and thinks that it’s rude not to answer email. I also surmise that perhaps organizational psychologists don’t get as much unsolicited emails as some of us do.

Now may be the time to build new credentials is this digital age by taking time for education courses and attending digital conferences. Don’t be limited by only non-real-time communications, implied with emails, texts, and online forums. Seek expert mentors and always evaluate feedback. Accept change as the new world of work.

I reviewed an email from Kara Nortman, the CEO of Moonfrye who is working on putting together venture debt. I then traded emails with two former senior tech professionals in LA. Finally, I think it’s worth meeting “mentors.” He had been asking me to speak at his conference Startup Grind.
