Patrick Kennedy: Sidebar is a company that was founded to bring consumers personalized content, focused on mobile delivery of that content. I joined about a year ago--a bunch of us did--and looked at where Sidebar was as it was gearing up for a full consumer launch of its personalized content portal. How is the company funded?

I actually worked in the offline business world until Web 1.0. I ended up doing consulting work for high tech companies in the San Francisco Bay Area in the software messaging area, and then came back to Los Angeles doing corporate sales for 3M, of all things. Vic Caretti: It's rather diverse.

One of those high profile neighborhoods here is Pasadena, home of Idealab, Caltech, OpenX, and many other high tech companies and institutions. We''re taking a fairly unique approach to program development, however, in that we will get involved with nonprofits and people with program ideas, and figure out how to fund them.
