A couple of weeks ago, a brand new, startup incubator launched in town--with a slightly different focus, on biomedical technology. The incubator-- Greenwings Biomedical (www.greenwingsbiomedical.com), is led by Richard Koffler , a serial entrepreneur and angel investor in Los Angeles. What is Greenwings Biomedical? Internally, we look very similar to a tech company, in that we have a development team, go-to-market team, and product people, and the ultimate goal of what we want to accomplish is to create companies that can run independently, with their own management teams. How is this different than accelerator or incubator?

Prior to Tilofy, I had technical positions at Yahoo, Microsoft, and Samsung, ranging from development, to program management, to senior technology person on Samsung''s smart TV platform. Those three organizations have very strong networks inventure capital, entertainment, and academia, and put together the incubator.

Mann, to his credit, with his multi-billion dollar foundation, he offered to find out what was going on, offering $100 million to UCLA to find out what was going on. Unfortunately, UCLA''s money dried up due to legal issues. This is really also funded because of Mike and my other project, the 101 incubator. We expect to win.
